Virgin Australia have revealed that Melbourne will be the Australian city servicing direct flights to and from Hong Kong.

Commencing from the 5 July 2017, Virgin Australia will operate five return services per week between the two cities, using dual aisle Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Services will operate Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and Saturday.

Virgin Australia’s proposed alliance with HNA Aviation and Hong Kong Airlines will enable customers to connect through Hong Kong to 13 destinations in mainland China.

‘We are delighted to have two of Australia’s key carriers, Virgin Australia and Qantas, flying into Hong Kong, along with Hong Kong’s flagship carrier Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong Airlines.  A fourth major airline is a huge boost for the region and we hope to see positive arrival results off the back of it’, said Hong Kong Tourism Board Regional Director, Andrew Clark.
