Details: | Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) is happy to announce that the “Disney Paint the Night” Parade has been honored with two prestigious international industry awards earlier this month. The awards are a testimony to HKDL’s efforts in creating magical experiences for guests through continuous innovation since opening 10 years ago.
In the judging results being announced recently, “Disney Paint the Night” Parade was honored with two awards, namely the Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Parade Spectacular from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) and the 2015 Brass Ring Award for Best Multimedia Spectacular from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA).
TEA is an international association representing the world’s leading members of compelling places and experiences. The annual Thea Awards recognize outstanding themed entertainment and experience design projects worldwide for their excellence in creating extraordinary guest and visitor experiences, attractions, exhibits and places.
TEA said, ”the new ‘Disney Paint the Night’ is a marvel of lighting technology, creative artistry, storytelling, showmanship, live performance and interactivity, centered around beloved Disney characters, both recent and classic.” This is the second time HKDL has been honored with such prestigious recognition. In 2013, Mystic Manor received the Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Attraction.
IAAPA is the largest international trade association for amusement facilities and attractions, and is dedicated to the preservation and prosperity of the attractions industry. The IAAPA Brass Ring Awards are a mark of distinction, symbolizing excellent achievements in the global attractions industry.
“The ‘Disney Paint the Night’ Parade was developed as a first-of-its-kind, world class attraction for HKDL, bringing an extraordinary audiovisual entertainment experience to our guests in park every night. We are deeply honored and encouraged by the recognition conferred by the two industry associations,” said Andrew Kam, Managing Director of HKDL.
“Disney Paint the Night” brings Disney’s electrical parade legacy into the 21st century with innovative floats, vibrant costumes, dazzling special effects, unforgettable music and hundreds of thousands of brilliant LED lights. The parade made its debut at HKDL in October 2014. It was then added at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California this past summer as part of their Diamond Celebration. “Disney Paint the Night” at HKDL has seven creative floats including Tinker Bell Opening Unit, Monsters, Inc. Unit, Cars Unit, The Little Mermaid Unit, Belle Candlelight Unit, Toy Story Unit, and the Mickey & Friends Finale Unit. The vibrant lights are featured not only on the floats, but also on Disney characters, dancers and props. Over 25 different styles of lighting effects, created by more than 740,000 LED lights, have been applied in the design and construction of the costumes and many of them were designed especially for this parade. More than 80 Cast Members per night are involved in presenting this nighttime parade.
