Lucky you if you’re in Hong Kong during Chinese New Year, the city’s biggest and most colourful festival!

It is impossible to not be caught up in the energy as you browse festive markets selling auspicious foods and blooms and photograph the shock-red lanterns that adorn the city.

A must visit is the Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade on the first day of the Lunar New Year which has been the highlight of the festive season in Hong Kong for the last 21 years.

The parade features spectacular floats and international performers who delight the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui. It begins with a fun-filled street party, after which a variety of international and local performing groups including marching bands, cheerleaders, dance troupes and roving costumed characters will join the Year of the Rooster mascot to celebrate Chinese New Year in the parade. 2017 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade Date: 28 January 2017 (Chinese New Year’s Day) Time: 8–9:45pm (Live telecast on TVB Jade channel); - Before the official start of the parade, street performances will warm up the route from 6pm onwards, featuring roving entertainment including music, dance, games and lots of surprisesRoute:Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon - Parade starts with an opening ceremony at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui (For ticket holders only) - Proceeds along Canton Road, Haiphong Road, Nathan Road and Salisbury Road, and ends outside Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers Free viewing along the streets:Visitors can still enjoy free viewing along Canton Road, Haiphong Road, Nathan Road during the event.
