Description: |
Every year on Buddha’s birthday, which lands on the eighth of the fourth lunar month, the Po Lin Monastery hosts a major ceremonial service of Buddha bathing to commemorate the occasion. A basin of water with a baby Buddha statue is set in the Main Shrine Hall, and worshippers and devotees gather at the monastery to wash the Buddha statue with scented water to purify all delusions and karma defilements.
