Dr Pang Yiu-kai, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), thanked the Central Government for expanding the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) to more Mainland cities, and expressed welcome to the arrangement: “The Mainland is Hong Kong’s largest visitor source market and Hong Kong is one of the most preferred travel destinations for Mainland visitors. The expansion of the IVS does not only make it more convenient for visitors from Mainland to visit Hong Kong, which is conducive to developing new sources of visitors for Hong Kong, but also benefits to the city’s tourism-related sectors, including retail, food and beverage, and hotel sectors, which helps boost the city’s economy.”

Dr Pang continued, “HKTB has always been actively promoting Hong Kong in the Mainland to maximise the city’s exposure and to attract visitors to Hong Kong. As more cities are eligible for IVS, we will ride on the emerging travel trends and work closely with the travel trade to promote diverse in-depth experiences as well as our year-round events, to entice more Mainland visitors who have not been to Hong Kong to come and experience the city’s wonders first-hand, and keep coming back for more to relish the joy of Hong Kong as a travel destination.”
