Picasso for Asia: A Conversation

The Special Exhibition ‘Picasso for Asia: A Conversation’ is the first major showcase of Picasso’s works in Hong Kong in over a decade. More than sixty masterpieces by Picasso will be on loan from the Musée national Picasso-Paris. They will be placed in conversation with over eighty pieces from the M+ Collections by more than twenty Asian and Asian-diasporic artists from the early twentieth century to the present.

A Movable Feast: The Culture of Food and Drink in China

Food culture is a vital component of traditional Chinese heritage, boasting a rich and diverse history. ‘A Movable Feast: The Culture of Food and Drink in China’ takes the audience through a feast that traverses spiritual, cultural and physical spaces. It explores the culinary culture and lifestyle of ancient Chinese people through the evolution of food vessels, eating practices and traditions, presenting approximately 110 exquisite works. These objects, primarily on loan from The Palace Museum, span from the Neolithic period to the Qing dynasty. Additional works on display come from the British Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, as well as museums in Hong Kong.

Cézanne and Renoir Looking at the World – Masterpieces from the Musée de l’Orangerie and the Musée d’Orsay is Hong Kong's first major exhibition featuring the French Impressionist masters Paul Cézanne and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. It showcases 52 masterpieces from the renowned Musée de l'Orangerie and Musée d'Orsay. The exhibition simulates a dialogue between Cézanne and Renoir, inviting viewers into their inner worlds and offering new insights into their lives and deep friendship. Visitors can step onto a French train platform and embark on a journey into the creative realms of Cézanne and Renoir.

Objects of Play: Hoo Mojong Centennial Retrospective takes place during a significant moment: the centenary of Hoo Mojong’s birth. A trailblazer in modern art, Hoo is a key figure in bridging Eastern and Western artistic languages. She left her hometown in her early 20s, and her extensive travels and residencies around the world not only enriched her personal experiences but also infused her artistic creations with multicultural inspiration. The exhibition will comprehensively trace Hoo’s artistic journey featuring nearly 100 artworks, including paintings, prints, drawings and archival materials from various periods of her career, recapping her integration of Chinese and Western art styles and investigations of the spirituality and power of ordinary life.

Tai Kwun’s SPOTLIGHT: A Season of Performing Arts has always advocated for interdisciplinary collaborations, where artists break free from conventional notions of space and form to explore new possibilities in the performing arts.

In the fifth edition of the season, Fragile! Human Inside invites audiences into an immersive audio-visual realm where the boundaries between the virtual and the real become fluid. ARIKA from Japan features an electrifying clash of contemporary dance and rap music. Infinite Extension, a dance triple bill, showcases the evolving voices of three promising choreographers and Fugue of Two Shores serves as the finale of the site-specific theatrical trilogy that spanned across four years.
