Resulting from the geographical proximity and the distinctive complementary appeals of Hong Kong and Guangdong, the two destinations have long been strategic partners. With the support from People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the “144-hour Convenient Visa” policy has been launched since 2000, offering simplified procedures to visitors who enter Guangdong province via 10 entry ports* and benefiting the tourism development of the Pearl River Delta region.
*Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing, Huizhou and Shantou
To be eligible for the 144-hour Convenient Visa, visitors:
• Must join a tour organised by a registered Hong Kong travel agent.
• Must travel in a group consisting of minimum two persons and maximum 40 persons.
• Can choose the port of entry or exit in Guangdong province, except Shantou**.
• Must enter and leave the areas together in their group via the ports of entry stated above.

At the ports of entry and exit in Guangdong province, immigration officers will examine passports and the list of names in the group. Group members are not required to fill in any immigration cards for passport stamping.
