Water Margin’s Lou Luo

Nature: Drama, Stage Productions
Organiser(s): Chung Ying Theatre Company
Description: Water Margin’s Lou Luo is a story about the notorious bandit Song Jiang who is on exile for killing his concubine. During Song’s journey into exile, the two escorting wardens are under the delusion that they will become ‘Stars of Destiny’, or demonic overlords, and ask Song Jiang for advice. Along the way, they encounter a series of hilarious events. The story is adapted from Water Margin, a classic Chinese novel, by Macau playwright Lawrence Lai. Chinese opera and martial art elements are combined with Commedia Dell'Arte, adding an absurd sense of humour to the proceedings.
