2019 Hong Kong Tourism Overview

The 2019 Hong Kong Tourism Overview was held on 26 March at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. With over 1,000 industry leaders, trade partners and students in attendance, it showcased HKTB’s plan and strategic focus for the upcoming year, under the theme “Restage from Strength”.

 

The event kicked off with a welcome speech by Dr Peter Lam, the departing Chairman of HKTB, who was honoured with a tribute at the event in thanks for his 12 years of outstanding leadership. Under his guidance, HKTB partnered with various organisations to promote multi-destination travel in the Greater Bay Area and launched a host of innovative mega events and promotion programmes. These efforts contributed to sustainable growth in visitor numbers that cemented Hong Kong’s reputation as Asia’s World City.

 

After an inspiring keynote speech by Commissioner for Tourism, Mr Joe Wong, JP, Mr Anthony Lau, the Executive Director of HKTB, presented the 2018 Business Review and Overview for 2019, followed by the industry forum, where guests shared their insights on the latest trends and opportunities in the tourism industry.

 

Later in the afternoon, directors from our regional offices reported on trends and challenges in their respective markets and providing insights that our trade partners could use to pursue exciting new business leads.
