Post Date: 08 Apr 2021
Details:

Isn’t it a fantastic idea to reward yourself with a hotel staycation of your choice, especially with a spend-to-redeem discount? The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) previously announced the “Staycation Delights” programme. If members of the public spend at least HK$800 between 26 March and 31 May at physical retail or dining outlets in Hong Kong, they can redeem their receipts for a HK$500 discount on a hotel staycation package with a maximum of two original machine-printed spending receipts for each redemption.

From 10am tomorrow (9 April) onwards, the public can refer to the programme website (HolidayHK.com/en-hk/staycationdelights) for the detailed list of participating hotels and their contact details, and book direct with the hotels with their spending receipts. The “Staycation Delights” discount is applicable to ALL one-night or two-consecutivenight room stays or packages of HK$500 or more at any of the participating hotels, amounting to around 140 of them.

With the diverse range of staycation packages offered by the participating hotels, the staycation experiences available cover a variety of themes for families, couples, gourmet food lovers, and many more, including “deluxe choices” as well as “super value choices”, which are virtually free. In addition to hotel room stays, the packages come with a range of offers, such as rebates or discounts on catering, dining, spa offers and attractions tickets. 20,000 quotas are available under the “Staycation Delights” programme, with different quotas for each participating hotel, on a first-come, first-served basis. What should you pay attention to when collecting spending receipts and booking packages? Here are ten tips from the HKTB:

Ten Tips about “Staycation Delights”

【Collecting spending receipts】

 1. What are the requirements for the spending receipts? What kinds of receipts are not accepted?

  • The HK$800 spending on retail and/or dining can be accumulated from a maximum of two purchases with original machine-printed receipts.
  • The receipts must clearly list the merchant’s name, item(s) purchased, date and purchase amount.
  • Receipts for deposits or online shopping, and reprints or copies of the original receipts are not accepted.
  • Receipts for hotel room stays or packages are not accepted, but receipts for spending in hotel restaurants are accepted.
  • Receipts from spending for personal services (beauty treatment, healthcare, etc.), agency services, prepaid/gift cards, admission tickets, transport tickets, financial products and other intangible goods are not accepted. (Please refer to the terms and conditions on the programme website for details.)

2. Are original machine-printed payment slips from credit card portals accepted?

  • No. Original machine-printed electronic payment slips (namely credit cards and EPS) alone are not accepted.
  • If the machine-printed receipt or electronic payment slip of a merchant does not specify the item(s) purchased, a handwritten merchant sales invoice specifying the merchant’s name, item(s) purchased, date and purchase amount should be submitted concurrently. Upon verification of the content of the handwritten invoice against the above-mentioned receipt or payment slip, they may be considered as an eligible receipt. (In case of any disputes, the HKTB reserves the right of final decision.)

3. If the original receipts are needed for aftersales service, can I get back my receipts after the Staycation?

  • The original machine-printed receipt(s) must be submitted upon check-in and will not be returned. You are advised to make alternative arrangements direct with the merchants for aftersales service.

 【Hotel booking】

4. Is the “Staycation Delights” discount applicable only to selected packages in the participating hotels?

  • No. The “Staycation Delights” discount is applicable to ALL one-night or twoconsecutive-night room stays or packages of HK$500 or above at all participating hotels.

5. Can I enjoy the “Staycation Delights” discount on other online booking platforms apart from the hotels’ official websites?

  • No. You must book direct with the hotel to enjoy the “Staycation Delights” discount.
  • The discount is not applicable to online travel agencies or online booking platforms.

6. Do I need to submit the receipts in person to the hotel when making the booking? Can I send copies to the hotel through WhatsApp?

  • You are not required to make the booking in person at the hotel.
  • Each participating hotel has different booking and receipt confirmation procedures. Please consult the hotels direct.

7. Is the discount applicable to bookings confirmed before 9 April?

  • The discount is applicable only to bookings during the programme period (i.e. 10am on 9 April to 31 May).

8. Is the “Staycation Delights” discount applicable only to room stays? Can I use the discount for dining in hotel restaurants?

  • The packages entitled to the discount must include a one-night or two-consecutivenight room stay, but packages with additional catering, dining or other services are also entitled to participate in the programme.
  • The discount does not apply if you dine in a hotel restaurant without a room stay.

【Pandemic issues】

9. What happens if a participating hotel is found to have a confirmed COVID-19 case during the programme period?

  • No government-designated quarantine hotels can participate in the “Staycation Delights” programme.
  • If a participating hotel is listed on the government’s “List of buildings with confirmed/ probable cases of COVID-19” during the programme period, the hotel will be removed from the programme website until it is removed from the List.

10. If a participating hotel is found to have a confirmed COVID-19 case, can I cancel or reschedule the booking?

  • Any cancellation, rescheduling, or changing of guests must be arranged according to individual hotel’s terms and conditions after confirmation of booking.
