HKTB Launches a New Round of “Staycation Delights” alongside the Consumption Voucher Scheme to Drive Local Spending

Post Date: 16 Aug 2021
Details:

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) announced the launch of a new round of the Spendto-Redeem “Staycation Delights” programme to echo the enthusiasm created by the Consumption Voucher Scheme to drive local spending. Starting from today (16 August), members of the public who have spent HK$800 or more at local retail or dining outlets and are aged 18 or above with at least 1 dose of COVID-19 vaccine taken can start collecting original machine-printed receipts for redeeming a HK$500 discount on local hotel accommodation offers.

HKTB Executive Director Mr Dane Cheng said, “The first round of the Spend-to-Redeem ‘Staycation Delights’ programme in March successfully stimulated local spending, as the average of participants’ actual spending exceeded the minimum required amount by 70%, which created a multiplying effect in F&B, the retail and hospitality sectors. Therefore, riding on the phased distribution of HK$5,000 consumption vouchers, the HKTB is launching a new round of the programme to extend our support to the trade after the summer vacation and continue to drive the consumption chain. Meanwhile, since vaccinations are a key to travel resumption, the HKTB aims to continue to play its part in combating the pandemic through the programme.”

The new round of the programme offers a total of 20,000 quotas for over 140 participating hotels (see appendix), including star-rated hotels. Starting on 7 September (Tuesday), the public can book an accommodation offer of one night or two consecutive nights, valued at HK$500 or above, directly with a hotel through designated methods, i.e. by email or through the hotel’s in-house booking system, with the promo code “HKstay” and enjoy a HK$500 discount. As there will be a limited quota, the discounts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
