Let’s bid farewell to the Year of the Tiger and welcome the Year of the Rabbit! The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) launches the “Fortune Around Hong Kong” Chinese New Year Celebrations with a newly created Lucky Rabbit, which symbolises fortunes and joy. Centering with the worldrenowned Victoria Harbour, the celebrations will introduce four interactive Chinese New Year Checkpoints along the Harbour, while jointly offering discounts for various Harbour Ride activities. The multimedia showcase A Symphony of Lights will also feature festival-limited light and laser effects until the Lantern Festival. All these exciting elements extend a warm invitation to the local public and visitors from around the world to explore the Harbour in multiple perspectives during the Chinese New Year!

HKTB staged an opening ceremony at one of the interactive check-points at Tamar Park, Admiralty. Mr Kevin Yeung, Secretary of Culture, Sports and Tourism, officiated the ceremony with Ms Vivian Sum, Commissioner for Tourism and HKTB Executive Director Mr Dane Cheng, lighting up the Fantastic Sea of Flowers in boisterous festivities.

Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, said, “With the reopening of Hong Kong’s tourism doors, the Government will be launching large-scale promotions with the travel trade. The Chinese New Year is a great opportunity to showcase traditional Chinese culture, Hong Kong's East-meets-West appeals and the city's unique tourism attractions to visitors. I am delighted that HKTB organised this Chinese New Year celebrations when Hong Kong's tourism industry is embracing a new milestone, and joining hands with the travel trade to promote tourism around Victoria Harbour , so that the public and visitors can experience the vibrant Chinese New Year atmosphere. As an international tourism capital, I invite all sectors to join us in showcasing our hospitality and making our visitors feel welcomed and at home”

As the Sea of Flowers light up, HKTB’s Chinese New Year Celebrations will be officially commenced and will be held for 18 days between 19 January (28th day of last month of the Chinese calendar) and 5 February (15th day of Chinese New Year) at four waterfront locations in Central, Admiralty, Wan Chai and Tsim Sha Tsui to share fortunes and luck with the public along Victoria Harbour.
