Highlights of the Harbour Chill Carnival

1. A Symphony of Lights Waterfront Pyrotechnic Edition

The Carnival-limited waterfront pyrotechnic has made A Symphony of Lights more attractive than ever! Crowds from the public flocked to the Wan Chai waterfront promenade for five weekends before the show starts at 8pm to secure a spot to enjoy the show. “I have never thought of watching a pyrotechnic display so close-up! The brilliant illumination over the water look like they are blossoming right above our heads – stunning!” said Ms Ho, who was mesmerised by the pyrotechnics with her two children, whom were catching a shot of the dazzling scenes on their cameras. Undoubtedly, the image of the alias of the city “HK” took the audience by surprise, which turned into a round of applause of cheers. Some visitors pointed out that they had come to Hong Kong specifically to watch the display, saying that it was the first time they had watched a pyrotechnic display from a close distance and that they found it very exciting and impressive.

2. Music Shows in the Harbour

The Carnival featured a series of unique Music Shows in the Harbour, with about 40 groups of bands and singers from Hong Kong, the Mainland, Taiwan and overseas performing on a brand new water stage, making a connection between the scenic harbour view with a wide range of musical experiences such as pop, rock and electro music, showering audience with a sensorial feast for both the eyes and the ears.

Many of the participating local singers said that performing on the water stage was very interesting, enjoying the waves flowing to the beat of the songs, coupled with the fabulous night view of the Victoria Harbour, which was a whole new experience for both the performers and audience, making them more excited during the performances. They hoped their performances could motivate and inspire the audience.

A number of top local, Mainland and Japanese cross-country cycling (BMX) and skateboarding athletes performed at the outdoor X-game performance zone, presenting an exciting line-up of X-games performances with the athletes showcasing their superb tricks and captivating the audience's attention.

Luk Chun-yin, "Hong Kong's No.1 Skateboarder", who participate in the Carnival and will represent Hong Kong in the Asian Games, said, “It is rare for us to perform tricks in the busy city, the atmosphere here is particularly good, allowing the public to understand X-games from a close distance. We saw a lot of people applauding and clapping, and it's really encouraging to see that more and more young people are passionate about X-games.
