The highly anticipated Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) lit up Tsim Sha Tsui tonight (29 January) with an exuberant celebration to mark the first day of the Chinese New Year. The parade featured nine spectacular floats and 46 performing groups from across the globe, including stars from overseas talent shows and awardwinning troupes from international competitions. The spellbinding performances delighted crowds of spectators and brought locals and visitors together to usher in the Year of the Snake in dramatic, joyful style.

The HKTB is also teaming up with the Hong Kong Well-wishing Festival to spread the excitement of the parade even further afield this year. From 30 January to 13 February, several beautifully decorated floats will go on display in Lam Tsuen Wishing Square in Tai Po. Groups from Mainland and overseas who participated in the parade will present upgraded versions of their performances in the square on the second and third days of the Chinese New Year, while some will also perform at shopping malls around the city.
