Another fruitful IAPCO Council Meeting |
MEHK hosted the International Association of Professional Congress Organizers (IAPCO) from 27-30 September which included 10 professional congress organizers as well as council members from around the world. During their stay, council members visited Asia-World Expo and Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and enjoyed a welcome lunch hosted by the Tourism Commission and MEHK. During a business exchange session, sponsored by InvestHK and the Hong Kong Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry along with a presentation by MEHK, council members learned about how easy it is to set up a business in Hong Kong and the ease with which they could schedule their next MICE event in this city. |

Contemporary Art in Hong Kong |
Over 5,500 art lovers and collectors participated in the successful inaugural Asia Contemporary Art Show at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong from 4–7 October. Thousands of original paintings, limited editions, sculpture and photographs from over 60 galleries were on show. Artists from Hong Kong, Australia as well as South East Asia took part. The show featured the works of young and emerging artists, and will return from 23–26 May 2013 at the JW Marriott Hong Kong Hotel. |

Cashmere World's successful debut |
Nearly 2,000 buyers from 50 countries were on hand to view the fibres, yarns and finished cashmere products on offer during the inaugural Cashmere World Show. The show attracted representatives of the world’s cashmere industry, with exhibitors representing some of the most important sources of cashmere. Adding to the luster of the event was the concurrent ‘Fashion Access’ show from 25–27 September. |

IMCAS Asia makes a return to Hong Kong |
This year marks the second time that IMCAS (International Master Course on Aging Skin) held its regional conference in Hong Kong. Held at The InterContinental Hong Kong Hotel on 4 – 5 October, it brought together 750 delegates from 35 countries and included more than 90 international speakers. MEHK arranged cultural performances for the gala dinner, and offered a meet and greet service, round-trip transportation, welcome gifts and a VIP tour of Nan Lian Garden, a traditional style Chinese garden. |

Give MICE planners a boost |
Incentive Travel and Conventions, Meetings Asia 2012 (IT&CMA 2012) has been fostering international MICE business opportunities in Asia for the past 20 years. Once again this year, from 2–4 October, it provided an effective platform for hundreds of international and local buyers from 52 countries to meet. MEHK exhibited with 14 trade partners to further promote Hong Kong MICE offerings, and jointly hosted a luncheon with TTG Events to showcase its latest initiatives to industry experts and key decision makers. A total of 370 buyers and media representatives attended the lunch. |

Building future MICE business |
Three incentive familiarization trips were conducted during October and November, featuring nine corporate end-users from Korea as well as 17 MICE agents from Australia and Japan. The trips showcased the latest venues and products including the soon-to-open Auberge Discovery Bay hotel, the newly opened AMMO restaurant & Asia Society Hong Kong Centre as well as experiencing Hong Kong’s living culture. |

Make great contacts at IMEX America |
MEHK led a delegation of seven trade partners to co-exhibit IMEX America Hong Kong Pavilion held in Las Vegas from 9–11 October. This marked the second year of participation yielding over 250 contacts with buyers from the US and many other countries from around the world. Among the over 8,000 participants this year, there were 2,400 hosted buyers from 45 countries and thousands of US trade attendees. The show has proved a successful and effective business platform to promote Hong Kong as a premier meeting place in the world with the latest MICE offerings. |

Blazing a trail at the Oxfam Trailwalker |
A global renowned international fundraising sports event, Oxfam Trailwalker is the first-ever collaboration project for MEHK, promoted to partners as a corporate team building and social responsibility event to overseas companies. This year, overseas corporate teams from China and Singapore were joined to test their endurance between 16 to 18 November along the MacLehose Trail. MEHK offered special hospitality and support to the teams walking the 100 km within 48 hours in under very trying conditions. This promotion campaign gained a level of awareness and interest in various MICE markets such as the US, Korea and Japan. The engagement with Oxfam HK and other stakeholders will continue in 2013 in hopes of expanding the number of overseas teams. |

MEHK participated in the European Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibitions 2012 (EIBTM) on 27-29 November with 11 hotels and destination management companies. MEHK joined the association programme for the first time and hosted a dinner on 28 November, inviting association buyers to join. Our guest of honour, Prof. Kaye Chon from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, delivered a keynote speech during the dinner. |
