The Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival, an annual gala organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to celebrate Hong Kong’s culinary excellence, has undergone a makeover and will return this year from 1 to 30 November. After staging the event last year in the “online+offline” format to continue to broadcast Hong Kong’s appeal as a gastronomic capital to the world, the 2021 edition will bring the Festival’s chillaxing vibes into different neighbourhoods across the city. Together with the online masterclasses which offer participants precious opportunities of rare winetasting experiences, the event encourages the public to “taste around town” in brand new perspectives and showcases Hong Kong’s world-class wine and dine experiences to global audiences.

Event highlights include:

1. New adventure:

  • The Festival launches the first-ever “City Wine Walk”. With a single tasting pass, food and wine lovers can enjoy a selection of limited-time-only menus from restaurants and bars in four culinary neighbourhoods in town.

2. New experiences:

  • The live-streamed “Tasting On-Air” programmes will introduce a series of amazing, uncommon wine-tasting experiences that are rarely available. The programmes include an expert-led masterclass with limited edition wine-tasting sets of en primeur samples from Bordeaux, which are yet to be released for public sales.

3. New perspectives:

  • The innovative “Chinese Omakase by Masterchefs” will deliver refreshing Chinese cuisine experiences;
  • Featuring the young and talented rising stars in the F&B industry, the event will take participants onto a chic and contemporary foodie journey
  • More than 400 restaurants will offer special menus and promotions with up to 30% discount.

Mr Dane Cheng, HKTB Executive Director, said: “The Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival is no doubt Hong Kong’s iconic annual event. As the COVID-19 situation in Hong Kong becomes more stable, we have decided to think out of the box by bringing the festival into various neighbourhoods, allowing participants to appreciate gourmet in their everyday life. On top of wellestablished dining districts, the ‘City Wine Walk’ takes the public deep into neighbourhoods where cool eateries gaining presence on social media are springing up to enrich the experiences on participants’ palates.”

Cheng continued: “Riding on the atmosphere created by Government’s Consumption Voucher Scheme, the HKTB hopes to encourage the public to spend at physical restaurants and bars with a view to promoting the business of the F&B sector and the local economy, as well as showing how Hong Kong’s world-class dining scene remains diverse and vibrant with the newest culinary trends despite the epidemic, and hence sending a positive message to audiences in the Mainland and overseas markets. We hope the event can whet visitors’ appetite and make them interested to come to our city for an unparalleled gastronomic experience as soon as travel resumes.”
