HKTB Welcomes the Resumption and Expansion of Multiple-Entry Individual Visit Endorsements for Shenzhen Residents by the Central Government

Various Special Offers in Transport and Spending Available Soon; HKTB to Step Up Promotions to Attract Visitors from Shenzhen to Hong Kong

 

In response to the Central Government’s announcement today (29 November) of the resumption of “Multiple-Entry” Individual Visit Endorsements for permanent residents of Shenzhen, and that of the new arrangement of expanding the Endorsement to non-permanent residents of Shenzhen with Residence Permit starting from Sunday (1 December), Dr Pang Yiu-kai, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), expressed welcome and gratitude: “Throughout the year, the Central Government has increased the number of applicable cities of the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) to 59 cities nationwide, which has expanded Hong Kong’s visitor source. Furthermore, the resumption and expansion of the ‘Multiple-Entry’ Individual Visit Endorsements for Shenzhen residents will provide greater convenience to Shenzhen residents who travel to Hong Kong and facilitate the exchange of people of the two cities. This can help attract more Shenzhen residents to visit Hong Kong.”

 

HKTB partners with the trade to launch various offers and promotions

 

 

In light of the implementation of the new arrangement, HKTB works with different transport operators and e-payment platforms to progressively roll out cross-boundary transport and spending promotions for Shenzhen visitors. The HKTB also steps up promotions on social media to attract Shenzhen travellers to Hong Kong and stimulate consumption:

 

Cross-boundary transport Spending Promotions

1.From 9 December 2024 to 28 February 2025, three crossboundary transport operators (Eternal East Cross-Border Coach, Trans-Island Chinalink, CGT Bus) will offer 5% off coach tickets, covering various route from Guangdong province to Hong Kong.

 

2. From 9 December 2024, MTR will offer travellers visiting Hong Kong from Shenzhen (Shenzhen North or Futian to West Kowloon station) a discount of 10 yuan off on High Speed Rail tickets, as well as special offers at duty-free shops in West Kowloon station and dining offers in ELEMENTS.

1.Alipay will introduce with additional offers exclusive for Shenzhen travellers:

  • Coupon sets of at least 188 yuan (about HK$200).
  • Discounts on individual transactions in Hong Kong of up to 888 yuan (about HK$955).

 

2. WeChat Pay will introduce coupons with discounted currency exchange rates exclusive for Shenzhen travellers.

 

3. HKTB will maximise the publicity effect of these spending offers on its official social media channels.
  • Details of the “Multiple-Entry” Individual Visit Endorsement has been published on HKTB’s official Xiaohongshu, Weibo, Douyin, WeChat and WeChat Channels.
  • HKTB also promotes the arrangement on social media accounts with large number of Shenzhen followers on various lifestyle portals such as Bendibao.com
