Details: | Hong Kong has once again consolidated its reputation as a city of gastronomy! Dianping, a one-stop online lifestyle portal based in Mainland with 800 million users, hosted its Announcement and Award Ceremony of “Must-Eat List” for Hong Kong, Macao and Overseas Regions in Hong Kong today (20 August). A total of 39 restaurants from Hong Kong were included, making Hong Kong the city with the highest number of listings and the first city outside the Mainland to host the platform’s high-profile award ceremony highlighting culinary excellence. The event was testimony to Hong Kong’s gastronomic excellence and elevates its status as a regional hub for fine dining.
Mr Kevin Yeung, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, congratulated the winning restaurants and applauded Hong Kong for its high number of entries. “It is delightful to see Hong Kong become the city with the most entries outside the Mainland on Dianping’s Must-Eat List. This outstanding result is something we can be intensely proud of. It recognises Hong Kong’s gastronomic experience and the diversity and excellence of our F&B industry and gives us the opportunity to further promote our city’s appeal to food lovers around the world.”
Ms Becky Ip, Hong Kong Tourism Board (HTKB) Deputy Executive Director, said, “Hong Kong’s wide-ranging cuisine is one of our best assets for tourism promotion. Dianping is the go-to culinary platform for Mainland travellers, with credible recommendations and the ‘MustEat List’ compiled from authentic reviews contributed by 800 million users. I strongly believe that, as Hong Kong continues to shine as a city of gastronomy, it will attract more travellers and foodies from both the Mainland and overseas to taste our diverse culinary offerings and immerse themselves in Hong Kong’s unparalleled food and cultural appeal.”
The HKTB plans to further strengthen co-operation with the platform to provide visitors with the most up-to-date and most comprehensive information on the city’s cuisine, together with restaurant guides and exclusive dining tips. The HKTB will also capitalise on the platform’s extensive user base and influence to showcase Hong Kong’s rich culinary offerings and inspire travellers to choose Hong Kong as their next destination because of its reputation as a food paradise.
