The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) successfully hosted the New Year Countdown at the Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct in Central for the first time. The event featured a fusion of live music and a light show, bringing locals, visitors and global audiences together to welcome 2026 with positive energy and blessings.

Themed “New Hopes, New Beginnings”, the three-minute light show was staged on the façades of eight landmark buildings participating in the “Immersive Light Show in Central”, featuring giant countdown clocks and dazzling light patterns to welcome the New Year with locals and visitors.

World-renowned duo Air Supply, together with local artists Jay Fung and Cloud Wan, delivered heartfelt performances to accompany locals and visitors in the countdown to 2026.

Large screens were set up at Chater Garden and Edinburgh Place in Central to broadcast the live countdown show. Additionally, the façade of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui featured projection displays of the event and the glass façade of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai displayed a giant countdown clock, allowing the public to soak in the New Year ambience from various locations. Also joining the event through a livestream were audiences around the globe.

With full support for this New Year’s Eve Countdown event, Hongkong Land also took part at the Central venue by distributing souvenirs to locals and visitors, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
