| 詳細: | With a number of international arts events taking place in the city, the arts scene is alive and well in Hong Kong, and is now infused with a touch connecting it to the community and life! After co-organising the community art exhibition “Journey to West Kowloon” with the Department of Creative Arts and Culture of The Education University of Hong Kong last year, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) Youth Academy has partnered with the School of Creative Media (the School) of City University of Hong Kong to organise the “Hong Kong Neighbourhoods” digital art exhibition. Students of the School created a series of unique digital artworks that take visitors into the communities of West Kowloon, Sham Shui Po and Central from the perspective of young people, exploring the unique local culture.
Mr Dane Cheng, HKTB Executive Director, said, “Through the HKTB Youth Academy, the Hong Kong Tourism Board is committed to strengthening young people’s connection with the community through tourism in the form of educational, experiential and creative activities, encouraging them to use their innovation and imagination to reimagine the daily life and unique culture of the community from novel perspectives, thus injecting new impetus and elements into the tourism industry and promoting Hong Kong’s unique arts and cultural appeal to the local public and global visitors.”
Internationally acclaimed artworks included | Promoting unique Hong Kong culture to the world The exhibition runs from now until 23 April at PMQ in Central, featuring 32 digital artworks created by 53 university students. The works draw inspiration from West Kowloon, Sham Shui Po and Central. Participating student artists explored the cultural history and modern-day situation of the neighbourhoods in person, and then created clips of 1–3 minutes and 3D videos with imaginative images and music. The exhibition applies digital installations in various formats, such as naked-eye 3D technology and irregularly shaped screens, to create a sense of space through art, technology and light, giving viewers a different artistic experience and presenting a new and innovative perspective of the local communities (See the appendix for details of the artworks).
A number of works have been nominated in film festivals in the Mainland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States and France, including a work based on Sham Shui Po that won the Grand Prix for a 3D film at the French Animation Festival, promoting Hong Kong’s unique arts and culture internationally.
Free workshops to enhance the authentic cultural experience In addition to the immersive art experience, the exhibition will offer free DIY workshops over three weekends, in which visitors can make special paper lanterns, personalised bags and postcards, experience traditional crafts and gain a better understanding of local culture. All the workshops are available on a firstcome, first-served basis. Interested parties can sign up on the respective websites.
