The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), a national annual trade show, was kicked off today (5 November), running for six days in Shanghai. As an active exhibitor at the CIIE since its first edition, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is participating for the 7th consecutive year to showcase the diverse appeal of Hong Kong as an international metropolis, including the city’s in-depth tourism experiences and mega events. At the same time, HKTB also presents how Hong Kong is taking the lead in promoting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) tourism brand in collaboration with other cities in the Area.

Mr Dane Cheng, HKTB Executive Director, said, “The CIIE is an important stage for Hong Kong to showcase its unique metropolitan image and glamourous tourism appeal to the Mainland markets and the rest of the world. Through our stimulating pavilion, HKTB seizes the opportunity of CIIE to reach out to participants from all over the world and promote Hong Kong’s newest tourism experiences. This will be essential for solidifying Hong Kong’s status as a world-class premier tourism destination and hub for GBA tourism, so that we can maximise our edge of being closely connected to the world, and hence attract more visitors to the city for multi-destination travel.”

Themed “Hong Kong, Your Next Destination”, the HKTB pavilion features a giant LED screen ring with 3D holographic projection, to immerse visitors into the exciting events and happenings of Hong Kong, as well as the wide variety of cultural, sports and tourism elements of the city. HKTB also includes elements of giant pandas.

Furthermore, visitors may also participate in interactive activities at the pavilion, including a test which will recommend customised travel itineraries in Hong Kong based on the visitor’s MBTI personality type. Alternatively, visitors can explore the dedicated GBA tourism zone, which demonstrates how Hong Kong brings together the “9+2” GBA cities in promoting the GBA tourism brand to the world as a tourism hub of the Area, with a view to attracting more visitors to Hong Kong for multi-destination journeys and strengthening the overall competitiveness of the whole GBA.
