Dr Peter Lam, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), welcomed the Hong Kong SAR Government’s announcement in the Budget of a HK$1.66 billion subvention in 2026-27 for the Board’s work in promoting Hong Kong tourism and driving the long-term development of the tourism industry.

Dr Lam said, “HKTB would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Hong Kong SAR Government for its continuous support of HKTB and the development of the tourism industry. HKTB will make full use of the resources allocated by the Government and partner with the trade to attract high-end overnight visitors, encouraging them to extend their stay and spend more, while enhancing visitor experiences in Hong Kong to inspire repeat visits. This will further strengthen the tourism industry’s contribution to the Hong Kong economy and benefit various trade sectors citywide.”

HKTB will leverage the resources to actively diversify its investments in various visitor source markets and grow new segments to attract high-end overnight visitors. At the same time, HKTB will continue to support the long-term development of the tourism industry and related sectors. This includes boosting meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) and cruise tourism and promoting the Greater Bay Area tourism brand and multi-destination tourism to jointly create business opportunities with the trade. At the same time, HKTB will strengthen its global promotions to showcase Hong Kong’s distinctive experiences and enhance the scale and appeal of its mega events to highlight the city’s edge and reinforce Hong Kong’s tourism competitiveness.

Details of HKTB’s work plan for 2026-27 will be announced in due course.
