Bars from Hong Kong Top the List 4 Years in a Row with First-Timer Bar Leone Ranks First in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024 HKTB Seals a 3-Year Partnership with 50 Best to Bring Prestige Gastronomic Awards to Hong Kong

For the second consecutive year, the award ceremony of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024 concluded successfully today (16 July) in Hong Kong with the support of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB). The event attracted about 1,000 of the world’s bar investors, mixologists and media representatives to Hong Kong to witness the ascension of Asia’s king of mixology.

HKTB seals a three-year deal with 50 Best – solidifying Hong Kong’s focal status as the world’s gastronomic capital

Mr Dane Cheng, HKTB Executive Director, said, “I am thrilled that Hong Kong claimed the first place on Asia’s 50 Best Bars for four years in a row. I am also happy to reveal that this event marked the first event in a new long-term partnership with 50 Best, which will see Hong Kong host more 50 Best events over the next three years. Following three consecutive wins by Hong Kong agave bar COA, the city’s Bar Leone topped Asia’s 50 Best Bars in 2024, marking the first time a new entry has also taken out top spot. Mr Lorenzo Antinori from Bar Leone said: “The feeling of standing atop the Asia's 50 Best Bars list is one I never could have imagined just over a year ago, when we were just a small team. Hong Kong's bar scene is a crucible of competition, constantly evolving to reflect the city's vibrant diversity. 4 homegrown bars make to the top 10 list – breaking last year’s record as a testimony to Hong Kong leading the way in Asia’s bar scene

In the latest list announced tonight, 4 homegrown bars made the top 10, including the champion, Bar Leone, and multiple-time winners COA (4th), Argo (9th), and The Aubrey (10th), becoming the Asian city with most bars in the top 10 list and sealing the city’s top-tier status in Asia’s bar scene.

Before and after the ceremony: exclusive global cocktail experiences across the city

To extend the excitement of the Asia’s 50 Best Bars award ceremony to locals and visitors in town, HKTB partnered with the organiser for the first time to present a series of exclusive global cocktail experiences, inviting 24 mixologists from more than 10 standout bars from Hong Kong and around the world to host five thematic cocktail events. These included a “Liquid Lunch”, a collaborative global cocktail feast that starred culturally vibrant cocktails that were jointly presented by COA, Handshake Speakeasy and Sips – the 2023 Best Bar in Asia, North America and the World, respectively. The event attracted many locals and visitors to raise their glasses together and experience the passionate collision of talent from different parts of the world.
