HKTB Receives the “Directors of the Year Awards 2024” for the First Time Showcasing Professional Performance in Corporate Governance

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) was honoured with the “Directors of the Year Awards 2024” by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD) for the first time, alongside the recognition of “Excellence in Board Diversity”, which showcased HKTB’s professional performance in corporate governance.

 

Dr. Pang Yiu-kai, Chairman of HKTB, expressed gratitude to all Board members for their contributions to advancing Hong Kong’s tourism development and for their innovative approach in overcoming challenges, “Tourism is a vital instrument in showcasing Hong Kong’s ‘soft power’. HKTB continually harnesses tourism promotions to showcase Hong Kong’s unique strengths and charm to a global audience, while working to maximise the industry’s economic contribution to our city. This recognition affirms our Board members’ commitment to excellence in leadership and corporate governance. Moving forward, HKTB will continue to uphold the principles of excellent corporate governance while pursuing our mission to reinforce Hong Kong’s status as a world-class tourism destination.”

 

In the HKIoD Award Series for Director Excellence 2024, HKTB won the “Directors of the Year Awards - Statutory/Non-profit-distributing Organisations (Boards)” along with the “Excellence in Board Diversity”. HKTB was highly commended by the judges. According to the panel’s citation, the Board of HKTB possesses diverse expertise and engages in regular strategic discussions and risk management in good practice of corporate governance. Their commitment to sustainability and responsiveness to industry trends showcase their dedication to enhancing Hong Kong’s tourism competitiveness.

 

The Directors Of The Year Awards presented by the HKIoD strive to recognise outstanding boards and directors, and to promote good practices in corporate governance and director professionalism. Since its establishment in 2001, this award series has become an annual project of impact in the community, receiving broad support and recognition.
