Following the early Chinese New Year holiday, Hong Kong maintained its magnetic appeal with visitor arrivals topping 3.3 million in February, 15.3% more than the same month last year.

And starting from March, visitors can also experience the latest attraction at Ocean Park, 'Old Hong Kong' which recreates what it was like to live here through the 1950s to 1970s – an inspiring new venue for MICE delegates who will also appreciate the recently opened Tai O Heritage Hotel that provides a green and authentic taste of old Hong Kong.

MICE planners can also take advantage of new tailor-made group packages being offered by Sky 100 and Madam Tussauds.

Looking forward to next year, MEHK is paving the way for the commissioning of the new cruise terminal at Kai Tak with fresh ideas more "land and sea" itineraries for MICE planners.

New cruise terminal offers fresh MICE options
Next year Hong Kong will have a new MICE venue for planners to inspire their delegates – the stunning new cruise terminal at Kai Tak located at the heart of the iconic Victoria Harbour. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is getting ready to planning joint promotions with cruise companies to organise cruise itineraries and develop more new shore excursion programmes. MICE planners can look forward to a vibrant new location to offer their delegates "land and sea" experiences.

The venture reached a new milestone in March when the Hong Kong Government awarded the tenancy for operating and managing the terminal to Worldwide Cruise Terminals Consortium (WCT), a joint venture of three highly experienced companies involved in the cruise and transportation industry.
World’s top specialists gathered at cardiology congress
With more than 90 renowned cardiologists attending the International Congress of Cardiology (ICC) 2012 to present papers and attend discussion groups, 1,200 delegates from around the world packed the HKCEC from 24-26 February to share the latest developments in heart treatments. ICC 2012 also marked the first direct cooperation of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), working with the local host – Division of Cardiology of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. There were strong delegations from Australia, China, Greece and South East Asia. The next ICC will be staged in Hong Kong in 2014.
Luxury hotel rooms prove ideal venue for art fair
The Mandarin Oriental had some unusual guests from 24-26 February when more than 3,000 works of art took pride of place in a number of its guestrooms. Contributed by more than 60 leading galleries from around Asia, the contemporary Asian artworks formed the contents of the Asia Top Gallery Hotel Art Fair Hong Kong 2012. More than 7,500 visitors and buyers, along with 400 of the artists attended the three-day innovative event, in which paintings were placed on the bed, windowsills, and walls of rooms, and sculptures installed in the bathtub.
Fur fair sets records for sales and attendance
A record 7,800 buyers from more than 30 countries attended the annual Hong Kong International Fur & Fashion Fair, generating record sales of US$257 million – up 10% on last year. Held at HKCEC from 25-28 February, the fair featured over 280 local and overseas exhibitors from 16 countries and regions who showcased a myriad of modish raw material, fur apparel and accessories to the world buyers.
Tai O Heritage Hotel gives authentic taste of HK
Located in the quaint Tai O fishing village west of the airport on Lantau Island, the Tai O Heritage Hotel occupies a two-storey neo-colonial building that was previously the local police station. The vintage architectural charm of the late 19th century has been perfectly preserved, as have the nine grand guestrooms that are well-appointed and classically furnished.

On the rooftop is their Tai O Lookout restaurant overlooking the village. The menu features a number of Tai O specialties, many flavoured with the famous locally-produced shrimp paste.

Ocean Park lets you experience a taste of Old Hong Kong
Not enough time to explore the traditional side of Hong Kong during your stay in Hong Kong? sky100 observation deck offers spectacular views of city
The next best thing to taking a helicopter ride is to visit sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck, located 393 metres (1290 feet) above sea level on the 100th floor of ICC, the tallest building in Hong Kong. It is the only vantage point in town offering 360-degree views of the territory and its famous Victoria Harbour.

From now till 31 March 2013, MICE groups with at least 50 overseas participants are offered welcome gift and drink, signage in sky100 and 20% discount at Sky100 souvenir shop. Groups with at least 200 overseas participants can also enjoy welcome banner and two ambassadors guided tour for selected VIP.
Fams keep agents excited on developments
MEHK partnered the Japanese tour company H.I.S. to bring 11 MICE sales representatives from Tokyo to learn the latest MICE products in Hong Kong. Held from 3-5 February, the Japan HIS Fam provided delegates with hotel inspections, visits to various unique venues such as Sky 100 Hong Kong Observation Deck, as well as horseracing culture enjoyed from a Hong Kong Jockey Club private box.

The following week, 26 potential M&I buyers from Taiwan joined MEHK Contract HK to learn Hong Kong's major incentive offerings, special venues and team-building activities. For the first time, MEHK incorporated a Contracting session as an effective platform for over 40 trade partners.
Record number of 34 trade partners in AIME
MEHK took a prominent role in leading a record 34 trade partners and largest overseas delegation to the Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME) in Melbourne from 21-22 February. Our delegation, accommodated in a 270sqm stand, made over 860 pre-scheduled appointments with international buyers over the two days and hosted an onsite cocktail event, eliciting keen interest in the various options offered for unique experiences in Hong Kong. This show recorded 3,384 trade visitors.
Top association management executives join intensive study mission
In partnership with the US-based Association Management Companies Institute (AMCI), MEHK organised a study mission for nine top executives from major AMCs in the US to familiarise them on our city from 25-29 February. MEHK also arranged dedicated sessions for delegates to meet with the Tourism Commission of Hong Kong and key MICE stakeholders such as Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, AsiaWorld-Expo, senior executives from HK Hotels Associations and other trade partners.
