The year 2011 ended on a high for Hong Kong with total visitor arrivals exceeding 40 million for the first time in a single year.

With a good start of 2012, Hong Kong was voted “The Best City for MICE Events” at the Industry Awards 2012 organised by CEI Asia magazine. Particularly appealing to MICE planners are the many innovative new team-building programmes that make the Hong Kong experience both inspirational and fun.

Furthermore, as the dynamic Year of the Dragon arrives, exhibition buyers can look forward to a host of new offers with the launch
of our latest Business Right Here! campaign.

So the MEHK team wishes you Kung Hei Fat Choy and extends an open invitation to bring your business to Hong Kong – where successful outcomes converge in happy harmony!

Total visitor arrivals in 2011 soar to reach 42 million
Having already surpassed 2010’s total visitor arrivals in the first eleven months of 2011, the final total was a record 41.92 million, 16.4% more than 2010. The biggest increases came from Mainland China, Asia and America. Overnight visitor arrivals also went up by 11.1% to 22.32 million or 53.2% of total visitor arrivals to Hong Kong.

Commenting on the figures for the year, HKTB Chairman James Tien said: “We are strongly encouraged by the robust performance of our tourism industry in 2011. Not only did our visitor arrivals reach a historic high of almost 42 million, but our tourism receipts will also likely surpass HK$250 billion.”
HK named Best City for MICE Events – Top Venues in Asia
Hong Kong was voted “The Best City for MICE Events” at the Industry Awards 2012 organised by prominent MICE publication CEI Asia magazine. There were also top awards in two other categories: the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) clinched 1st place and AsiaWorld Expo came 3rd in Best Convention/Exhibition Centre in Asia, while Meetings and Exhibitions Hong Kong (MEHK) took 2nd place under Best Convention Bureau.

The awards are based on votes and feedback from professionals and readers from the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) industry worldwide. This year’s awards mark the first time that Hong Kong has had two venues in the Best Convention/Exhibition Centre in Asia category, which is a powerful testament to Hong Kong’s status as a world-class MICE destination.
