Details: | Dr. Pang Yiu-kai, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), thanked the Central Government for expanding the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) to 8 Mainland cities from 27 May and expressed welcome to the arrangement, “The Central Government’s inclusion of the new cities in the IVS twice in three months reflects its full support and confidence to Hong Kong. It is also a gift for Hong Kong's tourism industry.”
Dr. Pang continued, “The IVS is expanding to cover 59 cities across the country. The 8 newly added cities are all provincial capitals and have a combined population of over 33 million. With the new measures facilitating visitor arrivals to Hong Kong, the city will be able to tap into a broader range of source cities and explore new sources of visitors. By attracting more ‘visits’ and generating greater ‘fortune’, this could strengthen the contribution of the tourism industry to Hong Kong's economy.”
The HKTB will immediately step up promotional activities in these cities, including partnering with Mainland social media platforms, travel trade and airlines to promote Hong Kong's latest tourism products and offers. The HKTB will also develop and promote Hong Kong's diverse in-depth experiences and various mega events with the travel trade to attract more Mainland visitors to experience and explore Hong Kong.
