Sheung Wan’s Man Mo Temple: A Walk Down the Memory Lane

Visiting the century-old Man Mo Temple in Sheung Wan sparks vivid childhood recollections for Jimmy, who grew up in Tin Hau. Man Mo Temple reminds Jimmy of his daily walks past the Tin Hau Temple on his way to school, where he sometimes stopped to pray with his father. He notes how Hong Kong’s mix of architecture styles embodies the city’s character, with modern skyscrapers standing alongside heritage buildings, creating a unique urban landscape.

Following tradition, Jimmy prays for success for his stand-up comedy shows in traditional rituals by touching the “Wen Chang Scholar’s Brush” for wisdom and “Guandi’s Blade” for protection and wealth and putting gold foil on the temple’s scared deer statue.

Authentic Roast Meats: His Childhood Favourite

At a local roast meat restaurant, Jimmy expertly navigates the extensive menu, ordering semi-fatty char siu, the succulent lower cut of roast goose, and chicken marinated in Moutai and soy sauce. Each bite delivers a quintessential Hong Kong flavour that lingers long after the meal.

With the dishes bringing a smile to his face, Jimmy recalls having an innate understanding of roast meats since childhood, knowing exactly how to order one of his favourites – char siu and chicken rice, with extra ginger and scallion sauce. His Hong Kong food favourites extend beyond roast meats to include beef briskets in broth, wonton noodles and curry fish balls.

Awe-inspiring Views from the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car

Soaring above the landscape in Ngong Ping 360’s Crystal+ cabin, Jimmy cannot contain his excitement, exclaiming in animated Cantonese: “Beautiful! Amazing! Incredible!” as he takes in the panoramic vistas.

Upon arriving at Ngong Ping, he pays his respects at the majestic Big Buddha, where he immerses himself in the serene spiritual ambience of Buddhist culture. To extend their hospitality, HKTB and Ngong Ping 360 adorned his cable car with personalised decals, crafting a memorable welcome for his unforgettable Lantau Island experience.

Asia’s Best Bar Stirs Inspiration for a Signature Drink in Local Tastes

At an award-winning cocktail bar, Jimmy finds himself in deep conversation with founder Lorenzo about Hong Kong’s dynamic nightlife. Lorenzo meticulously crafts signature cocktails for his guest, served alongside tantalising smoked olives, creating an exquisite pairing of nuanced flavours.

Inspired by the experience, Jimmy pitches his own Hong Kong-themed cocktail concept: a blend of local lychee and longan with premium whisky, to create a unique symphony of tropical sweetness balanced by the complexity of the spirit. He playfully names this creation the “Hong Kong Swing”.

Through collaboration with talent such as Jimmy O. Yang and other international celebrities and influencers, HKTB seeks to present fresh, personal perspectives of Hong Kong’s unique cultural tapestry to inspire audiences worldwide to visit and experience the city firsthand and create their own unforgettable stories.
