Hong Kong’s unique bamboo scaffolding craftsmanship showcases the wisdom of traditional Chinese architecture.

Bamboo scaffolding is a traditional construction craft unique to Hong Kong. Using bamboo and Chinese fir wood as core materials, its intricate structure and spatial design reflect the ingenuity of Chinese architecture. Inside the HKTB pavilion, dynamic LED lighting shines through the bamboo framework, interweaving with the glittering skyline of Victoria Harbour, iconic landmarks of the West Kowloon Cultural District, and the city’s vibrant mega events. Together, they create a distinctive spark of traditional craftsmanship and modern lighting, offering visitors an immersive experience of Hong Kong’s fusion of past and present.

HKTB Executive Director Mr Anthony Lausaid: “Hong Kong is a ‘super-connector’ backed by the motherland and a cultural hub linking the world. Here, you can feel the warmth of tradition and embrace global diversity. CIIE is Hong Kong’s calling card to the world. Our eight years of participation reflect not only our role as observers of China’s opening-up but also as active contributors to its development.”

A diverse showcase highlighting Hong Kong’s positioning as the Event Capital of Asia, World’s Meeting Place, International Aviation & Asia’s Cruise Hub, and a core demonstration zone for Multi-destination Tourism.

“As a key hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong is driving regional vitality through its mega event economy. In 2025, the HKSAR Government expects over 200 major events to take place in the city, generating an estimated HK$8.1 billion in spending. This underscores the strong potential of integrated development across tourism, culture, and sports. Looking ahead, HKTB will continue to offer global visitors world-class cultural performances, dynamic conventions and exhibitions, and diverse mega events in Hong Kong. We will create in-depth multi-destination experiences across the Greater Bay Area, enabling the world to discover China’s rich diversity through Hong Kong.”

HKTB’s pavilion at CIIE captures the city’s unique charm where tradition meets modernity.

Amid the global tourism recovery, the Asia-Pacific region is leading growth worldwide. Leveraging its regional advantages, sophisticated infrastructure, and diverse offerings, Hong Kong continues to capture global attention. From expanding the number of Chinese Mainland cities eligible for the Individual Visit Scheme to increasing duty-free allowances, a series of supportive policies have boosted confidence in the tourism sector.

HKTB is using CIIE as a platform to deepen collaboration with industry partners at home and abroad—developing products that blend Eastern aesthetics with global trends and enhancing connectivity between Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area cities to build a tourism ecosystem that attracts visitors to Hong Kong and links them to the region.

This year’s participation not only showcased Hong Kong’s cultural and tourism appeal but also highlighted its unique role in China’s opening-up strategy. Continuing to strengthen as the Event Capital of Asia, Hong Kong is embracing a more open approach to write a new chapter in tourism development.
