Ngong Ping 360 launches Crystal+, its brand-new cabin type since the launch of the Crystal Cabin. All sides and bottom of the “Crystal+” cabins are made of fully transparent tempered glass, offering guests 80% visibility with unobstructed views of Lantau Island. Made in France and Italy, “Crystal+” is believed to be the world’s most spacious cable car of its kind and will be in operation starting from December 10, 2022. Early-bird tickets are available now at 35% off.

Ngong Ping 360 launches the all-new “Crystal+”, offering a never-before-seen, crystalclear viewing experience. In addition to the bottom, all four sides of “Crystal+” are made of fully transparent tempered glass to provide 360-degree views of Lantau Island and landmarks such as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Hong Kong International Airport and The Big Buddha. The tempered glass on “Crystal+” offers more than 80% visibility – which is substantially higher than that offered by the Crystal Cabins, thus greatly enhancing the cable-car experience.

Being almost completely transparent, “Crystal+” is ideal for photographs. Each of the seven “Crystal+” cabins allow 10 passengers (load capacity of 750kg) on board who can enjoy a reliable and exciting ride overlooking 360-degree views.

Early-bird Tickets at as low as 35% off

“Crystal+” will be in operation starting from December 10, 2022. Early-bird tickets for “Crystal+” can be purchased starting today (December 1, 2022) until December 9, 2022, during which guests can enjoy 35% off discount at HK$235 (Original price for Adult: HK$360) for a roundtrip cable car journey with one way on the “Crystal+” and one way on the Standard Cabin.

Cabins made in France and Italy

The seven “Crystal+” cabins are believed to be the most spacious cabin of its kind with bottom and all sides of the cabins made of fully transparent tempered glass. Overseen by independent German experts alongside Ngong Ping 360 engineers, the whole production process took more than 2 years and was led by professional teams from France and Italy.

Mr. Vincent Lam, Head of Cable Car Operations of Ngong Ping 360, said, “Working with an international team has been an invaluable experience for us. To ensure the safety of ‘Crystal+’, our professional experts took meticulous care in choosing appropriate tempered glass. We ended up selecting an Italianmade, double-layered tempered glass for all cabin sides, and a French-made, triple-layered tempered glass for the bottom. Guests can enjoy the surrounding views with peace of mind.”

“Crystal+” is designed and manufactured by French gondola maker Sigma; and fully complies with both local and European Union standards. Importantly, Sigma has passed all safety examinations and has obtained relevant certifications for “Crystal+” from the European Commission. After arriving in Hong Kong, all “Crystal+” cabins were reexamined by the relevant local government departments and all met the government’s safety standards.

In 2006, Ngong Ping 360 only had the Standard Cabin cable cars; 3 years later, the Crystal Cabin was launched, with similar dimensions as the Standard Cabin but with floors made of tempered glass. Ngong Ping 360 currently has 65 Standard Cabin cable cars, 36 Crystal Cabin cable cars and 7 all-new “Crystal+” cable cars, giving a total of 108 cable cars.
