As we head into the final quarter of 2024, our tourism trade partners are busy preparing for the peak tourism season of winter, in order to welcome our visitors with diverse, exciting tourism products and experiences.

Non-stop waves of Mega Events

Mega Events took place all around Hong Kong in Q4 this year. Among them, Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) presented a series of events of diverse experiences with resounding success, from Hong Kong Cyclothon and Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival in October, to the mesmerising Hong Kong WinterFest, which is currently taking place in the West Kowloon Cultural District and the upcoming Hong Kong New Year Countdown Celebrations. These events not only showcase Hong Kong’s unparalleled tourism appeal but also elevate visitors’ experience during their stay in town.

Besides, as the “first point of contact” for mega events, HKTB will continue to communicate with various stakeholders and event organisers externally, while supporting the cross-departmental coordination of various Government parties.

We hope our trade partners can seize the opportunities arising from the popularity of mega events to drive conversion for generating revenues, so as to further maximise the contribution of tourism to the economy.

Opening up new markets and segments, Telling the good stories of Hong Kong

The Policy Address announced by the Chief Executive also highlighted the work of expanding the visitor source markets of the Middle East and ASEAN countries and developing tourism products and initiatives with local characteristics. As such, HKTB constantly steps up its strategic promotions targeting various markets and segments. For instance, HKTB is dedicated to drive the development of the city as a “Muslim-Friendly” destination to attract more Muslim visitors from the Middle East and ASEAN markets.

At the same time, we also promoted “multi-destination tourism” in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) in Indonesia to showcase the unique tourism appeal of the “9+2” cities in the GBA, attracting more visitors to come to Hong Kong as well as neighbouring cities.

HKTB will continue to work closely with our trade partners. Through different initiatives and training programmes, we will continue to bring in more opportunities to different sectors, enhancing Hong Kong’s tourism competitiveness together, showcasing the city’s appeal, and telling the good stories of Hong Kong to the world.
