Cantonese is spoken by 88% of the people in Hong
Kong, while other major Chinese dialects are also
present. Since 1997, Mandarin has also become more
widely spoken in the city. Being Asia’s World City,
English is commonly used and is the language of
preference in the government, business and tourism
