The festival creatively infuses new elements into these classics, providing a diverse range of experiences, including pop concerts, performances, thematic exhibitions, film screenings, as well as engaging outdoor and outreach activities. Each of these events serves as a showcase for Hong Kong’s distinctive, diverse, and inclusive culture, creativity, and charm, while also highlighting the heritage and evolution of the city’s pop culture.
The Chinese Opera Festival (COF) is dedicated to curating high-quality operatic programmes with a mission to promote traditional Chinese opera artistry and culture.
The Festival will delight theatre-goers with an array of programmes highlighting 9 different genres of traditional Chinese opera, including Peking, Wu, Sichuan, Kunqu, Cantonese, Han, Qu and Yue, to showcase the characteristics and splendour of Chinese operatic art in its full glory. The grand finale of the Festival will be a series of traditional Cantonese Opera performances staged at a magnificent bamboo theatre in Victoria Park. It also offers audience seminars, meet-the-artists sessions, exhibitions and opera film screenings.
