In the first half of 2024, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has embarked on a range of diverse promotional and marketing initiatives. These include the promotions in Mainland markets in response to the Central Government’s announcement of expansion of the Individual Visit Scheme to 59 cities, participation in tourism trade fairs in the Middle East, promotions of Hong Kong as a Muslim-friendly destination, as well as our local “Summer Chill Hong Kong” and hospitality campaigns, which further elevate visitors’ experience in Hong Kong.

For the tourism performance of the first half of 2024, Hong Kong’s visitor arrivals increased by 70% year-on-year, with Mainland visitors accounting for 16 million visits, a 60% increase from the same period last year. Meanwhile, non-Mainland visitors grew by 81% year-on-year. HKTB will continue to work closely with trade and business partners to promote Hong Kong as a top-of-mind international travel destination.

In this issue, we will recap the various campaigns in 2024 so far, outline HKTB’s plans and projects for the coming months, and explore how we can continue to "the extra mile" for the further development of our tourism industry.
