Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple

Che Kung Temple –

Built in honour of Che Kung, a

great general in the Southern Song dynasty (AD 1127-

1279) who suppressed a rebellion in South China. The

current temple was built in the Japanese style and sits

in front of the old temple.

The Big Buddha & Po Lin Monastery –

The Big Buddha

is Hong Kong’s must-see destination on Lantau Island.

Near the statue and Po Lin Monastery is the 1.5-hectare

Ngong Ping Piazza, which has a strong Buddhist

character and blends in with the religious ambience of

Ngong Ping.

Built by three monks in 1906 and renamed Po Lin

(Precious Lotus) Monastery in 1924, the monastery

is a major religious enterprise blessed with brightly

decorated temples and floral gardens. Vegetarian meals

are available in the monastery’s dining halls.

Golden Flower Shrine –

Worshippers believe that

Lady Golden Flower can grant many generations of

descendants. This Peng Chau temple is dedicated to

the Lady (or Goddess) Golden Flower and celebrates

not only her festival but the popular Bodhisattva

Festival.

Kwan Kung Pavilion –

Built in 1973, it houses an

eight-foot statue of Kwan Kung, a deified Han dynasty

(BC 206 – AD 220) general, made from a single

camphor tree. With its cherry blossoms, the temple is a

particularly popular attraction every March.
