Travel Tips

All visitors entering Hong Kong must go through

customs clearance and declare any dutiable

commodities exceeding duty-free quotas.

Duty-free Concessions for Incoming

Passengers

To qualify for duty-free concessions, an incoming

passenger aged 18 or above is allowed to bring into

Hong Kong the following goods free of duty for his/her

own use:

(i) one litre of alcoholic liquor with an alcoholic strength

above 30% by volume measured at a temperature

of 20°C; and

(ii) 19 cigarettes or one cigar (or 25 grams of cigars) or

25 grams of other manufactured tobacco.

If the passenger holds a Hong Kong Identity Card, he/

she must have spent 24 hours or longer outside Hong

Kong (applicable to (i) only). For the latest duty-free

concessions, please check the Customs and Excise

Department website at

www.customs.gov.hk .

Verification Measure

An incoming passenger who fails to declare or makes a

false or incomplete declaration to a customs officer on

the quantity of dutiable goods in their possession (i.e.

goods in excess of the duty-free concessions) is liable

to prosecution.

The Customs and Excise Department has implemented

the Red and Green Channel System at all entry points.

Passengers should enter the Red Channel if they have

dutiable or prohibited/controlled items to declare and

the Green Channel if they have nothing to declare (i.e.

no dutiable or prohibited/controlled items).

Visitors are advised to always allow sufficient time (about

two hours) for immigration and customs clearance.

there are flight information display boards and monitors

throughout the airport.
