Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences –

Housed

in the handsome Old Pathological Institute (a

declared monument), this unique museum charts

the development of medical science in Hong Kong

and compares Chinese and Western concepts of

medicine.

Hong Kong Racing Museum –

Horse racing began in

Hong Kong in 1846 at Happy Valley. The museum’s

glass wall is a window on the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s

hi-tech course and spectator stands. Inside, exhibition

galleries and interactive videos chart the growth of this

giant business.

Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre –

The centre exhibits and

encourages work by local artists in fields like sculpture,

printmaking and ceramics. The centre comprises eight

working studios, an exhibition gallery, a lecture theatre

and multi-purpose rooms available for hire.

Law Uk Folk Museum –

This typical 18th century

Hakka village house, now a declared monument, has

been restored as a museum featuring period furniture

and an annex hall for exhibitions on local history and

lifestyles.

Hong Kong Maritime Museum –

Paying tribute to Hong

Kong and Mainland China’s rich seafaring past dating

back 2,000 years, the museum contains precious

models of ancient ships, artistic nautical works and

interactive displays of modern ships and ports, as

well as a comprehensive account of Hong Kong’s

development into a major maritime centre.

Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence –

Located in a

restored fort, this museum highlights the military history

of Hong Kong, from the Ming dynasty up through the

Qing dynasty to colonial times and the modern era. On

display are actual military items, including a tank from

the Second World War.
