Chinese Arts & Antiques

Hong Kong is a one-stop shopping destination for all

types of Asian arts, crafts and antiques. The range

includes traditional silk garments, centuries-old opium

pipes and historic photographs, as well as Burmese

scrolls and Thai Buddhas.

Where:

Hollywood Road, running from Sheung Wan

to Central, is lined with shops selling antiques and

Chinese furniture. Chinese department stores are good

one-stop shops for porcelain, silk and traditional musical

instruments. Chinese furniture can also be found on

Queen’s Road East in Wan Chai and at Horizon Plaza

in Ap Lei Chau.

Chinese Medicine & Herbs

Among the mounds of dried seafood, fungi and roots

on display in Chinese medicine stores, there might be

something for what ails you.

Where:

Try Ko Shing Street in Sheung Wan. Chinese

department stores also carry a variety of dried remedies.

Custom-made Goods

Suits, shirts, shoes, skirts, evening and wedding gowns,

bags or hats – all can be made to measure in Hong

Kong’s famous tailoring shops. Your guests can be their

own designer, discuss their requirements with the tailor

and step out in custom-created elegance.

Where:

Fine tailoring shops can be found in most

hotels, Prince’s Building in Central, the Admiralty Centre

and in many side-streets in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Electronics & Computers

Thousands of Hong Kong shops fill the demand for cutting-

edge electronics, computers and home appliances. The

latest products often go on the market here before they are

available in other countries. Hong Kong’s free-port status

means they’re competitively priced.

Where:

Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong

Kok are popular places for electronics products or

photographic equipment. For computers, try dedicated

malls such as the Wan Chai Computer City, Mongkok

Computer Centre and the Golden Computer Arcade and

Golden Shopping Centre in Sham Shui Po.

Factory Outlets

With international brands available, the savvy shopper

can often be found perusing the clothes-rails in these

establishments, which also give local designers a

chance to air their latest designs at down-to-earth

prices.

Where:

In New Territories – Citygate Outlets in Tung

Chung. In Kowloon – Fa Yuen Street in Mong Kok,

Granville Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kwun Tong and Hung

Hom. On Hong Kong Island – Lee Garden Road in

Causeway Bay, Spring Garden Lane in Wan Chai, and
