Details: | Organised by HKTB, Greater Bay Area Showcase under “Hong Kong Week 2018” was successfully held at the popular KITTE shopping mall in Marunouchi, Tokyo. The Showcase highlighted Hong Kong’s unique tourism offerings and the new superlative infrastructure to promote Hong Kong as an ideal starting point for multi-destination journeys within the Greater Bay Area.
The Showcase was divided into three zones to introduce different significant sights in the Greater Bay Area: Hong Kong, Macao and nine Guangdong cities. The zones were set up with display panels, an interactive game, miniature models featuring Old Town Central and a replica of the street art “Large Mouth Dragon Boy” by Japanese celebrity and artist Shingo Katori. Several food trucks serving dim sum, egg tarts and milk tea were also arranged onsite for visitors to sample Hong Kong’s local delicacies.
Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of HKSAR, Mr Edward Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of HKSAR, Ms Zeng Zeng Ying Ru, Deputy Director General, Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, Ms Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO), and Dr Peter Lam, Chairman of HKTB officiated the kick-off ceremony. Mr Shingo Katori also joined the event to share his experience in Hong Kong.
Apart from the Showcase, a trade seminar was jointly hosted by HKTB, Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and MGTO to share the latest tourism updates in the Greater Bay Area. The event was attended by over 100 trade partners.
Besides, HKTB, as a special performance sponsor of the Hong Kong Dinner, staged two music performances by the Asian Youth Orchestra, and pop singer Charmaine Fong crossover a cappella group SENZA. Organised by HKTDC, the dinner was officiated by Mrs Carrie Lam, HKSAR Chief Executive and Mr Takamori Yoshikawa, Japan’s Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and attended by over 400 guests. |
