Michelin has launched the eighth edition of the bilingual

English and traditional Chinese MICHELIN Guide Hong

Kong & Macau, featuring a number of new selections

that demonstrate a sustained improvement in local

culinary standards.

The 2016 guide features 78 Bib Gourmands and 77

starred restaurants, including eight three-star restaurants

(six in Hong Kong and two in Macau), 18 two-star (14

in Hong Kong and four in Macau) and 51 one-star

establishments (41 in Hong Kong and 10 in Macau).

There can be no finer example of Hong Kong’s culinary

expertise than the winners of the Best of the Best

Culinary Awards, first organised by the Hong Kong

Tourism Board in 2001.

The 2015 Best of the Best Culinary Guide features

award-winning Chinese dishes available in the region

To ensure a consistent selection, MICHELIN’s

anonymous inspectors have adhered to the standard

five criteria for awarding stars in all areas and countries:

ingredient quality; the skill demonstrated in preparation

and combination of flavours; how the cuisine reveals

the chef’s personality; value for money; and consistency

over time and across the entire menu. A restaurant that

receives one or more stars is not only one of the best in

its country but also one of the best in the world.
